July 1, 2026The Gili Islands are world-renowned for their exceptional snorkeling, and for good reason. The crystal-clear turquoise waters offer visibility up to 30 meters, revealing stunning coral gardens and an incredible diversity of marine life.
Turtle Point, located off the northwest coast of Gili Trawangan, is perhaps the most famous snorkeling spot in the area. The probability of encountering sea turtles here is incredibly high, making it a must-visit for any nature lover.
For a more secluded experience, head to the eastern side of Gili Air. The reefs here are less visited but equally beautiful, with healthy coral formations and plenty of tropical fish. It's also an excellent spot for night snorkeling.
Don't miss the opportunity to snorkel near the Japanese Shipwreck off Gili Trawangan. Though the ship itself isn't visible from the surface, the surrounding reef has developed beautifully around it, creating a unique underwater landscape.
Remember to respect the marine environment: avoid touching coral, don't feed the fish, and use reef-safe sunscreen to help preserve these precious ecosystems for future generations.
